Meet Our Principal

 

Hello! My name is Jamie Kingery and I am proud to be the principal at the new Art Rutkin Elementary School. The school is located in Tigard on the west side of Bull Mountain. Please contact me for information about the attendance boundary, enrollment and ways to get involved.

Art Rutkin Elementary School is a learning community focused on establishing and sustaining strong school-community partnerships. These partnerships will ensure that every student reaches their full potential as a learner and citizen within the community.

We have high expectations for all students at this new school, and will set goals that focus directly on each student's social and emotional development and academic learning. We focus on student success through intentional efforts around explicit literacy instruction using research-based instructional practices. Students at all grade levels, PreK-5th grade, will be using common literacy strategies to increase their ability to read, write, speak and think across content areas. Each staff member will teach and support students to share their ideas with each other in a collaborative learning environment. Students will develop confidence in their abilities to continually grow as learners, and how to problem-solve individually and in groups. 

The families that Art Rutkin Elementary serves are important partners for the success of our school and each of our students. Families are encouraged to help plan for opening Art Rutkin Elementary in the fall of 2023. There are many ways to get involved already. Together with our students’ families, we can ensure that every child has positive relationships and experiences at school to support reaching their academic and civic potential.
